Salty Biscuits with olives and walnuts

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp vinegar

  • 1 tsp sugar

  • 1 stick butter (at room temperature)

  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt

  • 1/3 cup corn oil

  • 1 egg + 1 egg white

  • 3 1/2 - 4 cups all purpose flour

  • 1 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • 1/2 tsp red pepper

  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts

  • 1/2 cup chopped seeded black or green olives

Directions

  1. Grace a baking sheet and reheat oven temperature to 350F (175C)

  2. First in a big bowl mix sugar and vinegar.

  3. Add plain yogurt, corn oil, butter, egg and an egg white and stir to mix.

  4. Sift together dry ingredients and add it to the bowl. Mix it to a soft dough.

  5. Finally add walnuts and olives and knead to mix them together.

  6. Make round shapes about 2 inch diameter.  Put it in the prepared sheet.

  7. Mix the egg yolk with 1-1/2 teaspoon milk and with brush the top of the biscuits with it. If you prefer sprinkle with sesame seeds or sunflower seeds or black seeds

  8. Bake for about 25 min. until golden brown.
