Yogurt Cake in Syrup

Ingredients:

1 cup plain yogurt

1 cup granulated sugar

bullet

1+1/2 cup semolina flour

bullet

1/2 cup all purpose flour

bullet

1 egg

bullet

1/2 tsp baking soda

bullet

1/2 tsp cinnamon

For syrup:

bullet

3 cups granulated sugar

bullet

2 cups water

Directions:

  1. In a medium baking bowl whisk first sugar and yogurt, than egg until just mixed.

  2. Sift other ingredients on top of the mixture and mix until mixed well.

  3. Put the batter in a oiled 9x13 inch baking pan (preferably glass, because you will cut them in the pan)

  4. If you like you can sprinkle slivered almonds or half the blanched almonds and place it in order.

  5. Bake at 350F (160C) until golden brown.

  6. Mean while boil sugar and water and cool until warm.

  7. Pour the syrup over the cake and let it cool.

  8. After cake will soak the syrup cut it in squares or diamonds and serve cold.
